HP ENERGY CLUB POWER INITIATIVE

More Savings. Better Facilities. Stronger Clubs.

A complimentary Club Energy Assessment for Australian sporting clubs — helping committees cut electricity costs, modernise facilities and get ready for future funding, backed by a long-term energy partner rather than a one-off installer.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ENERGY PARTNER

We're not here to sell your club solar. We're here to make your club stronger.

Electricity is one of the largest line items in a club's budget. HP Energy runs a whole-of-facility assessment, then builds a long-term energy strategy so more of every dollar goes back into players, facilities and volunteers.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is the HP Energy Club Power Initiative?

A program that helps sporting clubs reduce operating costs through smarter energy solutions while preparing for future sustainability and funding opportunities.

Does this only involve solar?

No. HP Energy provides complete energy solutions including battery storage, LED lighting, hot water systems, air conditioning, EV charging and electrical upgrades.

Is the Energy Assessment free?

Yes. The Club Energy Assessment is complimentary and obligation-free.

Can clubs with existing solar still benefit?

Absolutely. Many clubs benefit from battery storage, lighting upgrades, additional solar capacity and other efficiency improvements.

Do you help with future funding opportunities?

Yes. While we cannot guarantee funding, we help clubs become better prepared through professional assessments and tailored energy planning.

How much can a community sports club save with solar panels?

Savings vary according to the club's electricity consumption, operating hours, roof suitability, system size and how much solar electricity can be used on site. The Game On guidelines do not specify a standard savings percentage. Clubs should undertake an energy audit and site-specific assessment to estimate system performance, bill savings and payback. Solar PV, battery storage and necessary supporting works were eligible under Game On Round 1.

Are there government grants for sports club lighting upgrades?

Yes. The Australian Government's Game On Round 1 included LED lighting upgrades for courts, fields and clubhouses as eligible expenditure. Lighting should comply with the applicable guidance in AS 2560.2:2021. Round 1 has now closed, but clubs can prepare a scoped project and quotations for future funding opportunities. Grant eligibility and funding are not guaranteed.

What are the best energy efficiency upgrades for clubrooms?

The best upgrades depend on how the facility uses energy. The Game On guidelines identify several eligible options, including LED lighting; solar PV and battery storage; efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning; heat-pump hot-water systems; efficient refrigerators, freezers and chillers; switchboard upgrades required to support eligible installations; and energy audits and sustainability plans. A whole-of-facility energy assessment is the best starting point — it can identify the upgrades offering the strongest combination of energy savings, emissions reduction, facility improvement and community benefit.
